Kansas City Partnership to Advance Pediatric Palliative Care
The Kansas City Partnership to Advance Pediatric Palliative Care is a program designed to address the needs of seriously ill and dying children in the greater Kansas City area. The Center for Practical Bioethics serves as the lead agency in the program’s implementation.
Four major goals have been identified as the focus of the project:
- Enhance professional competencies
- Establish viable family resources
- Give voice and choice to minors in care planning
- Engage schools and public entities in policy change and regulatory compliance
Success of this project will result in a community-based model for coordinated care that addresses the clinical, social, psychological and spiritual needs of children and their families. The initiative will serve as a model-program for other communities and institutional collaborations nationwide.
Cindy Leyland serves as the project director. She can be reached at (816)221-1100 ext 209 or pedsproject@practicalbioethics.org.
