Life Sciences and Research Ethics
In keeping with its mission of raising and responding to ethical issues in health and healthcare, the Center has undertaken a strategic initiative called the Science and Ethics Literacy Project. The goals of the project are to promote informed policymaking at the state level and to increase science and ethics literacy across the United States.
The four-phase project will clarify and establish context around these issues for an informed and civil discussion of the ethics and choices involved in the life sciences and scientific research. The program will involve national roundtable conversations, community forums, and the dissemination of policy briefs nationwide.
Through this project, the Center plans to create a place for communities to work together and discover practical solutions that rest on the bedrock of human dignity.
The first phase of the project concentrated on stem cell research. Phase two of the project concentrated on human subject research protection.
