Thaddeus Pope, director of the Health Law Institute and an Associate Professor of Law at Hamline University School of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota, co-authored an article in the Journal of the American Medical Association entitled “The Courts, Futility and the Ends of Medicine.” Here he discusses whether there is a role for courts in medical futility decisions at the bedside.
