Medical Ethics and Why It Matters

Lindsey Jarrett and Ryan Pferdehirt.

For some, the subject of ethics tends to elicit a response that can best be described as ho-hum.

Clearly, those people haven’t heard Ryan Pferdehirt and Lindsey Jarrett talk about medical ethics and how it affects care for patients, families, clinicians, and providers.

At least they weren’t among the more than 50 people who joined us on October 3 for our 40th Anniversary Kickoff Luncheon at the Fire House KC, where Ryan and Lindsey shared real-life situations showing how bioethicists improve care in clinical settings and how the Center is helping providers build safeguards into their use of artificial intelligence.

Many thanks to our kick-off co-chairs, Raghu Adiga, MD, and Mark R. Thompson, JD, and to Seigfreid Bingham for their sponsorship.
